Selected problems of Czech healthcare from the perspective of nurses
VŠETEČKOVÁ, Lucie
The aim of the bachelor's thesis, which consists of a theoretical and empirical part, was to map selected problems of Czech healthcare from the perspective of nurses. In the theoretical part we deal with nursing, communication, behavior, safe working environment for general nurses, burn-out syndrome, teamwork, the image of nurses and the education of nurses. In the empirical part of the bachelor thesis, the method of quantitative research was chosen. Data collection was made by questionnaires, both in paper and online versions. The questionnaire contained 35 questions that were open, semi-open and closed. This questionnaire was completely anonymous and was intended for nurses working in a medical facility. The research consists of 593 respondents. After processing the research, we set three basic hypotheses. Based on the established data, the hypotheses were evaluated as follows: H1: There is a statistically significant relationship between selected problems of Czech healthcare system and the length of practice of nurses. H1: not confirmed. H2: There is a statistically significant relationship between selected problems of Czech healthcare system and the education of nurses. H2: Not confirmed. H3: There is a statistically significant relationship between selected problems of Czech healthcare system and the type of department where the nurses work. H3: Not confirmed. The results of the research survey state that the given problems mentioned by the nurses do not differ, depending on the length of practice, education or the type of department where the nurses work. The contribution of the work is the publication of the results and the opinion of he nurses on selected problems of Czech healthcare system. This bachelor thesis could be used as a study material for nurses in practice, but also students in obtaining education.
The nurse's work from the public's point of view
HÁJKOVÁ, Markéta
The aim of the bachelor thesis is to map the view of the lay public on the profession of a nurse. The theoretical part refers about the development of nursing and the nursing profession throughout history. Furthermore, the work deals with the view of the nurse at present, describes her image and education of nurses at present, and also introduces us to the image of the nurse at the media, including factors that affects the view of the general public.3 hypotheses were used to explore the topic. H1: The perception of the role of nurses is influenced by the gender of the general public. H2: The perception of the prestige of the sisters is affected by the education of the general public. H3: The opinion of the general public on the profession of nurses is affected by the media image. To verify the hypothesis, a quantitative survey was demonstrated, by the form of a questionnaire for the general public. The complete number of returned compliant questionnaires was 195. The resulting data were further processed in the form of graphs or tables and the hypothesis was evaluated by the use of statistics. From the results of the survey, we found out that the lay public, during the first thinking about nurses, contemplates about help. However, we were interested in whether the perception of the role of nurses is influenced by the gender of the public, and due to differences in other elected answers, H1 was confirmed. We were also investigated whether the perception of the prestige of nurses is influenced by the education of the general public. Most of the respondents have a positive view of the prestige of the nurse profession. These respondents were mostly the ones with the highest secondary education with a high school diploma. There were also sufficiently represented other categories of educational attainment and after the evaluation of the data we found out, that the perception of the prestige of the nurses is not influenced by the education of the general public. H2 was therefore rejected. During the last hypothesis, we were interested in whether the public opinion on nurses is influenced by the media image. Most of the respondents think that the media does influence the public's view of nurses. H3 was therefore confirmed.
Social role: Nurse
SMYČKOVÁ, Iva
We elaborated our work named ``Social role: Nurse{\crqq} on the basis of a theoretical part by making a research among nurses and laics, both from the hospitalised and not hospitalised part of the general public. We concluded from the obtained results that the society{\crq}s evaluation of nurses is mainly positive; nurses are highly regarded not only by their patients but also by the public that is not hospitalised at the moment. When asking how respondents view the status and image of nurses we encountered a more positive assessment from the public than from the nurses themselves. Therefore we assume that nurses view themselves in the eye of the society worse than they are perceived in reality.
